SVP Seeks Directors

Stoughton Village Players (SVP), a community theatre based in Stoughton, Wisconsin, seeks directors for their March 2009 production of "The Stanway Case". SVP is 30-year-old organization with a rich tradition of presenting quality theatre in a team environment. The ideal candidates will communicate effectively, have relevant experience performing and directing theatrical productions, and will endeavor to create the best possible production within the limits of SVP's budget, personnel and physical abilities. Qualified candidates will be invited to present their concepts to the Board of Directors before any candidate is offered the position. The theatre will be available for rehearsals after January 1, 2009 for "The Stanway Case". Interviewees will receive a tour of the facility. Some duties include:

  • Holding auditions and conducting rehearsals for the production
  • In coordination with Stage Manager and Producer, assist in finding designers, musicians, etc.
  • Meeting with the Board at an early stage to present concept, methods and expectations for the show and receive overall policy direction from the Board
  • Setting up the production schedule for auditions and rehearsals
  • Maintaining communication with all involved, including actors and production team leaders
  • Adapting the script as necessary to local audience and culture, in conjunction and with input from the Board.
  • Working with the creative design leaders (set design, construction, painting and lighting, primarily) to conceive and create the overall look and feel of the production.
  • Working with the Stage Manager, managing time and organizing people and space
