Auditions Posted for Fall 2022 Show:
Elf the Musical

Audition dates: September 6 & 7

Stoughton Village Players is proud to announce its audition plans for Elf the Musical. That's correct! Plan early by brushing up on your singing and any (all) Christmas cheer that would make Buddy proud.

Based on the popular 2003 New Line Cinema hit of the same name, Elf is "a hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy that follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity." A modern-day holiday classic, this is the entertaining tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly climbed into Santa’s toy bag and was taken to the North Pole, where he was raised as an elf. Buddy’s enormous size over the elves and his poor toy-making skills led him to believe he was different, so Santa told him he was human and suggested he go to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help NYC remember the true meaning of Christmas. A funny, heartwarming story for all to enjoy.

Auditions for Elf will be held September 6 and 7 at 6:30 pm at the SVP theater on Main Street, Stoughton. When the production hits performances scheduled for November 10-12 and 17-19, 2022, the show will not only include a large cast of 11-20, but it will also need a few kid actors. There is plenty of room for many many of the merry-inclined.

A few highlights of the casting (not forgetting Buddy the elf of course) are: Jovie, Buddy’s girlfriend -- a bit cynical and tough around the edges but now the target of Buddy’s complete adoration; Walter Hobbs, Buddy’s father -- so focused on keeping his demanding job that he is not making time for his family which lands him on the naughty list; Mr. Greenway, Walter's boss -- a tyrannical workaholic who cares nothing about the people who work for him; and Michael, Buddy’s funny and smarter-than-average 12-year-old stepbrother. Ensemble roles include Walter’s co-workers, secretary, and of course Santa, elves and others. For more detailed audition information, please check out the Stoughton Village Players auditions page, and any questions about the show or auditions, please contact the director, Patt Dischler: gmadisch19@gmail.com.

Elf features a book by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone), with music by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer) and Chad Beguelin (Disney's Aladdin on Broadway). Songs sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. After all, "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear."
