Ticket Refunds for The Foreigner
COVID-19 has changed life for all of us in many ways. The same is true for us here at Stoughton Village Players. As concert venues, major sports leagues, and other public events were busy canceling tens of thousands of mass gatherings, we were likewise forced to cancel our Spring show, The Foreigner. Unfortunately that has left many of our ticket holders wondering about the refund of their purchased tickets.
Proud to bring the arts to the Stoughton community, SVP is forever grateful for its loyal audience and would love nothing more than to refund all its fine ticket holders. After all, with the turbulent economy and job loss, SVP understands some people may really need that money back. Regrettably returning The Foreigner admission fees is beyond the theater group's control, as the money collected for tickets is still in the hands of its online ticketing system, Brown Paper Tickets. Such as things are during this pandemic, Brown Paper Tickets is also facing its own COVID crisis due to the unprecedented volume of cancellations. This burden has caused "catastrophic failure," resulting in "a snarl of delayed payments, revoked checks, stalled refunds and, understandably, angry customers" (text from “COVID-19 Updates: Statement from BPT Leadership.” www.covid-recovery.brownpapertickets.org, June 9, 2020.) SVP continues to check in periodically with BPT for any news regarding the refund of its patron's tickets, but other than this, there is little the theater can do to further expedite this process.
Like many of its other customers, Brown Paper Tickets is aware of SVP's need for an update on refund status. In response to the theater group's most recent email inquiry, BPT send the following message earlier this July:

Until Stoughton Village Players receives word from BPT, it will continue emailing inquiries to the company regarding money owed SVP's patrons as well as the theater itself. Any new information SVP receives about refunds will be passed on to its ticket holders quickly.
Stoughton Village Players understands that the wait can be frustrating. However, Brown Paper Tickets is obligated to send buyers a full refund to the credit card they used to purchase tickets. SVP hopes this does not negatively influence its wonderful audience members and their loyalty to the theater for future performances and events.
Stoughton Village Players is extremely fortunate and grateful for all your support and appreciation, particularly during this critical time. The theater group recognizes it could not survive without this love and encouragement from its advocates. Although the wait is going to be longer than SVP hoped, the group looks forward to welcoming the community back into the theater where the show will once again go on
